Speakers Biographies: Work Shop Speakers & Subjects: Rita Bear-Gray, Fern Noble & Michelle Clark · Prayer and Intercession as bridges for repentance, humility and reconciliation to create a genuine environment for unity in diversity will be taught and modeled by these seasoned intercessors. Learn how identificational repentance opens the door to releasing forgiveness and blessing. In addition learn how dance, drumming and singing, when used with the Word of God are used as powerful expressions of intercession and spiritual warfare.
Dr. Jerry Yellowhawk · As a Lakota/Sioux elder and ministry leader for many years, Dr. Yellowhawk has witnessed and experienced racism and bigotry as a Lakota living in Rapid City, South Dakota. In addition he experienced prejudice, systemically, in the denomination he served for over forty years. His gentle Christ-like spirit and Godly wisdom will encourage and challenge you to walk in a God-honoring way when faced with the challenges of prejudice from other Christian people and leaders in the Church.
Terry Leblanc · Terry served as the manager of Aboriginal Programs for World Vision Canada for nine years and developed strategic networks of ministry leaders across the country in Native ministry. In addition he is a skilled and experienced trainer in Asset Based Management having worked with large Christian ministries in developing comprehensive growth plans. He will help equip church and ministry leaders to develop expressions of practical unity while honoring church traditions and theological differences in respectful and affirming ways. Oneness is not the same as sameness. Learn how to be one in Christ, while differing in cultural and ethnic preferences and expressions.
Pastor Ted Mercer · Ted has learned through the day to day challenges of local church ministry, valuable Biblical principles to building and leading an authentic multi-ethnic church in the heart of “Indian country.” His church is an example of a genuine multi-cultural church that reflects it members at every level, not simply a mono-cultural church attended by a multicultural membership. It is a vibrant, growing and community impacting local church, comprised of Caucasian, African-American, Latino/Hispanic and First Nations people with a vision for unity and spiritual transformation in their region community. Looking at the church in Antioch, the first truly multicultural church of he New Testament, Ted will help us understand a healthy model of local church life in diversity.
Richard Twiss · Discover how culture shapes and defines values and attitudes that color our view of “otherness” in defining acceptability and “normalcy.” By learning to identify and discern our personal cultural prejudices, conscious and subconscious, we can learn to appreciate other people in how they differ from ourselves, producing honest unity in the midst of diversity. Using the Apostle Paul as a role model, he will help us understand the importance of diversity while sharing the gospel with others.
Ray Aldred · Ray served as a pastor and overseer of twelve Native churches in his denomination. He brings a wealth of experience to equip people in developing the needed attitudes and beliefs to be genuine “ministers of reconciliation.” Ray will help you understand the hindrances, challenges and wisdom needed to walk in unity in the midst of diversity. Learn how Christianity can sometimes unknowingly promote racial prejudice and cultural discrimination by mistakenly confusing Biblical conformity to the life of Jesus Christ versus cultural assimilatio
