Sharing The Importance Of Missions

In November Howard shared the importance of everyone's involvement in missions work at the Geronimo church where we had hosted a Ladies Tea earlier in the year. Howard met the Pastor at that time and he invited him back to speak to his church.

Howard conveyed that the sharing of the Gospel, and all coming into the Kingdom of God, all knowing salvation, was the desire and mission of God. Therefore, as Christians it should be our desire too if we are truly being conformed into His image. If we are in covenant with God then we put down our agenda, our interests in order to pick up His.

He went on to say that this doesn't mean we all need to pack our bags and head for the mission field because there are many ways we can be involved in "The Mission Of God." "But," he said, "it does mean that we all need to be involved somewhere, at some level." One of the easiest ways to be involved is by being a sender (supporting a missionary). That could be a full time missionary, or the youth group going on a short-term trip. The key is to stay involved, don't let it be just a one time event.

A Call to Prayer

1First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, 2for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time. 7For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 8Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.
