Casey Church & Family

Casey Church, Pokagon Band of Potawatomi, formed a Native American contextual ministry called “All Tribes Gathering” in Grand Rapids, Michigan, from 1997 – 2000. In 2000, he and his family located to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they started the “Soaring Eagle Ministry” through the Mesa View United Methodist Church. Through both ministries, he has assisted with needs of the Native community in a way that retains his Native identity and his Christian beliefs.

He is involved locally, regionally and nationally with others in creating more awareness of the contextual ministry movement. He is currently working on a Masters of Arts degree in Inter-cultural Studies at Fuller Seminary. At the present time, “Soaring Eagle Ministry” in undergoing a transition to become a contextual training center in the southwest region that focuses on developing emerging leadership in Native American contextual ministries that incorporates a “new paradigm” for teaching native leaders that is culturally sensitive
