What will the Lanes actually do...?
This is the strategy that God has given us:
-
Partner with committed Christians in Native American
communities to evangelize, and disciple the people to a saving knowledge of
our Lord Jesus Christ. Be slow to speak and quick to listen. Be good listeners
so that we can hear the heartbeat of the people. (Not only
is it good Biblical advice, but God has shown us that it is an absolute
necessity if we are to follow His will because He speaks it through the people
along with His word.)
-
In cooperation with those partners seek out teaching,
teachers, and training that can be imported or raised up from within
(especially that of Native American origin), that can be implemented in the
renewing of the minds and hearts of the people. (I.E. That
they have true value in the eyes of God. They are precious and indispensable
in the body of Christ. They have many God given giftings and talents to offer
others in the body of Christ, and a responsibility to share those things. They
can make a difference in their own Tribe, their own communities, and the
entire world. . They are free to worship God in spirit and in truth, using
expressions of their own God given culture should they choose to do so. They
do not have to turn their back on their own heritage, and pretend to be
someone they're not in order for God to love them. For them to know that God
is their creator, He loves them as He created them, and He is not the white
man's God only.)
-
Develop a network of Christian ministries including Native
American and Non-Native, on a local and national level. With the possibility
of including those at an international level in the future.
-
To assist Christians from each community establish and manage
a "Teen Drop In Center" to provide a Christian atmosphere, and safe place for
the teens to hang out. It will not only provide opportunity for evangelism,
discipleship, and mentoring, it will also promote unity amongst the churches
and Christians that are working to make it possible.
-
To help the Christian people identify the giftings that God
has given them, develop them fully, and put them into productive service in
God's Kingdom. This includes identifying leaders; helping to find and retrieve
the training and equipping they may need, and supporting them in the ministry
God has called them to.
-
To identify Christian leaders in the next generation, and
partner with those mentioned in #3,4,5 on this page, to facilitate the
equipping, training, and encouragement of the teens to take the positions God
is calling them to. To see them evangelize their peers, develop their own
methods of discipling others, develop children's ministries in their own
communities and be positive role models for the next generation.
-
To be a bridge connecting Native American and Non-Native
Christians and churches so that they can work together as the body of Christ.
To share our experience in hosting Non-Native teams with the Native ministries
here so that it will be an enjoyable and positive experience for all involved.
And we want to share what Native American Christians have taught us, about
many things including culture, with Non-Natives. We want to be a conduit
through which knowledge, wisdom, and courtesy from both sides can be passed.
With a sense of camaraderie among the brethren being the final result.
-
Help to develop and implement teaching and training for
cross-cultural ministry. To help enlarge the worldview, educate on the
apparent calling God has on Native Americans in world evangelism, and finally
to prepare people to both go on, and lead an outreach. Then help them organize
and go on mission outreaches, or Link them with mission agencies to give them
experience in missions among Native American Peoples and others.
