Great things in Washington!

We shared with you in our last newsletter that we were anticipating God to do great and mighty things in our lives this year. One of the greatest things He has done so far is to further connect us with Wiconi International a ministry we have know and trusted for years. We officially became part of the Wiconi staff in January of this year.

You may recall Wiconi is the ministry that brought the Many Nations One Voice Celebration to Lawton. Wiconi’s founder and president is Richard Twiss, a Lakota Sioux we met years ago when we were on the field in South Dakota. Rosebud is the reservation Richard’s family is from.

Wiconi International is located in Vancouver Washington. Our position is multi media/missions coordinators. At this time we will continue to live in Oklahoma ministering as usual, but along with that Howard will be creating and maintaining a web site for Wiconi and be on call to travel and do multi media projects as needed. We will visit Wiconi several times a year to strengthen relationships with other staff members and serve in the office in whatever way needed.

We took our first trip to Washington in Jan. Howard was able to perform maintenance on the office computers and participate in planning meetings for the website, while I was able to assist with some office work. We were able to participate in staff meeting and get better acquainted with the staff including the new executive director.

We also had the opportunity to participate in a Mission Fest. Richard did an excellent job teaching a workshop about missions. Richard challenged our thinking about reaching indigenous people. He said “The way we were taught is insufficient in embracing a Kingdom World View when it comes to indigenous people, there are more options present.” The room was overflowing, with some people in the halls trying to listen in. It was encouraging to see so many folks desiring to hear what a Native American Christian had to share on missions.
An added blessing during our trip was that we were able to visit my sister and her family who live in Washington. I had not had the opportunity to visit with her for six years.

Wells Springs

Our last ladies tea was in Feb. with a group of seven ladies. It was a sweet time of intimacy in God’s presence. I love how the Holy Spirit works. We were inspired to make up little business size cards with a picture along with a famous quote and a scripture. We had the cards laying face down in each tea cup and asked each lady to pick a cup without looking at the card inside until after they had picked their tea cup. At the end of the fellowship time we asked each of the ladies if they felt comfortable to share how the Lord spoke to them through their cards. It was incredible that each lady shared how the card directly related to what the Lord was doing in their lives. I love how He designs special opportunities to speak directly to our spirits.

Debra shared from the Word of God how when people were on their journeys in biblical days that it was vital for them to dig wells to drink from. Without the water they would surely die. She spoke about how in our journey in life we must dig wells to drink from, wells of His presence, Word, and worship with Him; and without these wells we would surely die. They also named their wells as a memorial, and we must name our wells so that when we are on a difficult road in our journey of life we can remember back to how God met us at the well and we can drink from that well all over again.

As women after God’s heart we are so honored to be able for this season to participate in these “Ladies Teas”, thank you to all who continue to pray for our teas and for those who support our ministry, your are a part of these teas with us, thank you again!

Surprise!

I had a surprise trip to Pennsylvania. My oldest brother decided that he wanted to have a surprise birthday party for our mom who turned 80 years old in March. It was put together quickly and my sis came through again with a buddy pass for me to travel home. My mom was very surprised and blessed. I spent the weekend in Johnstown and then was blessed to stay at the home of my best friend in Greensburg and have my grandson Tyler over to visit with me. A triple unexpected blessing all wrapped up in one trip, what more could I hope for.

Prayer/Praise

  • We continue to thank God for His provision and seek Him to increase our ministry budget to match our needs.

  • Continue to pray for us to be lead by the Spirit in our ladies teas.

  • The last week in April we will be traveling to Washington to attend Wiconi’s yearly retreat/vision casting time.

  • Howard will be leading another Covenant class in May in a Native American Church.

We thank for your faithful support and hope to see each of you in the fall, which is our scheduled furlough time. We will send church and activity schedules in our next newsletter.
Blessings from the Lanes

Some Extras

Charlyne and Michelle (Wiconi Prayer Coordinator)

Pastor Kyle Taylor, his niece Faith, and Rev. Barry Belindo
At a Powwow in honor of Faith as Miss Indian Princess Oklahoma
We were honored to film & photograph the event for them.

We enjoyed helping to bring a special “Drumbeat of Worship” time to Lawton, OK. by providing lighting, and sound equipment; and filming and photographing the event. We had a special guest, Charles Barnett, from Morning Star Ministries. Working with Kim Shahan and Club Isaiah (a redeemed nightclub now being used for Christian ministry) we drew a diverse crowd, and had a special evening of ministry. All this was made Possible by you, the finances and equipment you have donated are in use!
