Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all our friends, family and supporters across the U.S.A. We pray that the New Year brings to your household great joys and a greater intimacy with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords our Great High Priest!

It is hard to believe it is the year 2007 it seems like we just experienced the year 2000. The years are just flying by, all the more reason for us to draw closer to our Lord and Savior and bring as many people into the Kingdom as possible.

Missio Dei Celebration

Howard and I participated in the Missio Dei Celebration in November. Howard video taped the whole conference and was able to produce DVDs of each speaker for Wiconi so that those who were unable to attend the conference can purchase the DVDs. During the celebration we were blessed to hear speakers from different nations and ethnic backgrounds. I (Char) was able to assist in registration and manning ministry tables.

(Howard Shares on Missio Dei)
Missio Dei is a Latin term which simply means the mission of God. The celebration’s focus was to bring our attention to the fact that missions belongs to God, not to the church, and that God invites the church to participate in His mission. Somehow in the Western world we have gotten the idea that missions belongs to the church and we invite God to bless our efforts. If missions belongs to the church then the church decides who is involved and how the mission is conducted. The problem with this is that people tend to choose participants from among those in their own culture and unconsciously excluded those of other cultures. Therefore all other cultures become the mission field.

Discussion Panel answered questions and made comments on the concept of Missio Dei

On the other hand when missions belongs to God He chooses the participants from those He created. And since He created all of the cultures He makes it clear in His word that He invites everyone to participate in His mission (we call it the great Commission). With a multi colored, multi cultural work force the Lord can reach everyone in the world from a culturally sensitive perspective from where they can hear and understand the message of the gospel being shared. I believe it is God’s intention that our diverse cultures would join together in unity to fulfill His purpose in the Great Commission. I would venture to say that this is the only way the Great Commission can be fulfilled.

During the Missio Dei conference we had the great pleasure of staying with Kathy Moore an old friend form PA. Since she use to be my hairdresser I couldn’t do without a hair cut. It is so nice God lets us do those girly fun things. “She still does a wonderful job with the hair, ladies.” The Lord has set Kathy up in a shop and she has a mission to minister to her clients. She takes that mission very seriously.

It was wonderful to catch up with all the Lord is doing in Kathy’s life. We had the opportunity to attend church with her on Sunday and hear an awesome message from her Pastor. Those of you, who know Kathy, look for her when you see the Gaither band as several times a year her choir (which she is a part of) sing with the Gaither band.

Beaches and Sunshine!

Well that’s what you think you would highlight when you take a trip to Florida, but this trip was much different. The sun was not shinning and the beaches were not inviting. We didn’t have the actual sunshine but we did have some Son shine. We stayed with good friends Ron and Linda, a very dear couple who made Marco Island their home several years ago. Once again they blessed us with their hospitality and wonderful friendship, the Son was shinning through them the whole visit.

We were so very excited to be with the New Life Community Church on Marco Island. We were able to have soup, fry bread and wojapi with our brothers and sisters of New Life. After we had a great meal Howard was able to show our video and we had a wonderful time of questions and answers. The folks in Florida were truly interested in what God was doing among Native Americans and had lots of questions to ask. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with them and look forward to the next time we visit.

On our way to New Life Community Church we were so happy to visit with Pastor Tom and Debby Bowers. We also got to serve by helping Pastor Tom at the drop off station for the Samaritans Purse, Project Christmas child.
And as if that was not enough of a blessing we also got to visit with Chuck and Lois Ziese, both couples are dear friends that we have known for many years. I love how God continues relationship even though we are many miles apart.

Fruit from Furlough!

Well as we shared in the last newsletter we had our time of intenerating during the fall months of last year. As a result of our efforts we know thus far that we have gained several new Advocacy team (A-Team) members, two new supporters, a few individuals have increased their support, several one time gifts, some have asked for special needs to be shared with them so they might share with other ministry groups. Also at the time of this writing one church has increased their support.

The church in Marco Island has given Howard a very good camera. A Sony prosumer VX 2000 mini digital camcorder and also a professional grade tripod to go with it. With gifts specifically given for equipment Howard was also able to purchase a Canon prosumer GL 2 mini digital camcorder and a professional grade tripod and remote zoom control for it. All Howard needs now to do live event video production is a Focus enhancements MX4 or MX4DV video mixer. We are anticipating God completing the provision for this work.

We are so thankful to all of you who gave us an opportunity to share with you what the Lord is doing among Native Americas around the world. Thank you to those who have been a part of the fruit. A great big huge thank you to our A-team who not only worked so hard for us during our time at Cornerstone but their dedication in praying during our furlough time we believe those supplication made our furlough a fruitful time!

Prayer Request
  • Howard will be teaching and preaching several times during this next month.
  • Howard has many opportunities to travel and work with Wiconi this year and he wants to hear the Lord’s direction for which places he should go. Also God’s provision for the travels.
  • One of the Native churches have asked us to help them set up a program of local evangelism/outreach into their community.
  • I plan on staying home this year keeping the ministry office going and reaching out locally as the doors open.
  • Complete direction for this New Year, we only want the Lord’s direction.
  • Continue to pray that we remain healthy and refreshed in Him!

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all the things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
